We took 4 NECI students to Porto for the Special Olympics Championships.

Three of our riders received Diplomas on the Wednesday night dinner for the highest results in the qualifiers in the Algarve region.
Raquel, Christina, and Sofia.

The main competition on the Thursday 1st class Raquel won Gold and Sofia was 6th.

Second class Lucelia won Silver.

Third class Christina won Silver. This was a fantastic result thank you to Sue and Angela for all their hard work.

 

The regional qualifier for the Special Olympics for the disabled took place on Wednesday 4 October in Bensafrim. Riding For The Disabled Barlavento had six riders from NECI (in Praia da Luz) taking part.
They rode their socks off to win 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal - a fantastic result! 

The riders now await confirmation of how many have qualified for the finals of the Special Olympics on 23rd November in Porto.

Awards won at the Disabled Special Olympics - October 18th

The Riding for the Disabled Special Olympics Regional Competition was held on 18th October at Bensafrim.  RDB entered 9 Competitors for the competition: 5 from NECI, 2 from Algoz and 2 from Santo Amaro.

Lucelia Wins Silver Medals At The Special Olympic World Games In Abu Dhabi

Lucelia Gloria, aged 30, a rider from Riding For The Disabled Barlavento (RDB) has won two silver medals at the above games. Lucelia won her two medals in the Level CS – English working trails and the Level CS – English equitation.
